The single was noted as a phenomenally successful song worldwide and has simultaneously topped the UK (where it topped the chart at number one for ten consecutive weeks, and was Rihanna’s first number-one single), Canadian, Irish, German, Slovakian, United States, Australian, New Zealand, Polish, Austrian, Belgian, Norwegian and Swiss charts, along with the United World Chart. It won Video of the Year and Monster Single of the Year at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.
